Armenia has officially lifted visa requirements for citizens of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, as well as for foreign nationals holding valid residence permits in several jurisdictions, including the United States, European Union member states, Schengen Area countries, the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait.

The decision, approved at a Cabinet meeting on May 22, 2025, is aimed at strengthening Armenia’s position as a destination for both tourism and investment. According to the official statement reported by [Armenpress](https://armenpress.am/en/article/1220322), the move “will contribute to the increase of tourist flows and investments."

## Visa-Free Access Extended to GCC Nationals and Foreign Residents

Effective immediately, citizens of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Oman can enter Armenia without a visa. Additionally, foreign nationals possessing valid residence permits from the following jurisdictions are now eligible for visa-free entry:

- United Arab Emirates
- Qatar
- Kuwait
- European Union countries
- Schengen Area countries
- United States

This policy change is part of Armenia's broader strategy to enhance its appeal as a destination for tourists and investors from the Gulf region and beyond.

## Government Aims to Strengthen Economic and Diplomatic Ties

Armenian officials have emphasized that the visa waiver is designed to facilitate travel and strengthen economic and diplomatic relationships. Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that the move is expected to increase tourism and investment flows into the country.

Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan expressed optimism that the policy will lead to a rise in direct flights and business engagements between Armenia and the newly visa-exempt countries.
