Armenia has announced plans to launch a new 5-year investor fast-track residency program as part of a broader immigration reform set to take effect on August 1, 2026.
The reform introduces a digital-first residency system aimed at attracting investment, streamlining migration management, and modernizing the country’s legal framework for foreign residents, entrepreneurs, and diaspora Armenians.
The new investment-based pathway will grant immediate permanent residence to qualified applicants. Successful investors will receive a 5-year residence card with renewal options and no physical presence requirement to maintain their status.
This new route replaces Armenia’s existing 10-year special residency program. Authorities have not yet announced the required investment amounts or eligible categories but have confirmed that details will be released before the law takes effect.
For investors who qualify, the program removes the waiting period that normally precedes permanent residence.
Armenia’s current citizenship rule remains unchanged, requiring three years of permanent residence before eligibility for naturalization.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether the same timeline will apply to investors under the new fast-track program or whether an accelerated route may be introduced.
Until the new system takes effect, the existing residency framework remains in place, allowing applicants to continue applying under the 10-year special residency regime.
Applications submitted before August 1, 2026, will be processed under the current rules.
