Dominica will require new citizenship by investment applicants to visit the country in person to collect and renew their passports.
Announced by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit on June 10, the change ends the fully remote model that has been a defining feature of Dominica's CBI program for decades.
Under the new rules, successful applicants will need to travel to Dominica to receive and renew their passports.
Until now, applicants could complete the entire citizenship process remotely without ever visiting the country.
Further details, including implementation timelines and visit requirements, are expected to be announced in the upcoming national budget.
The change comes as Caribbean citizenship by investment programs face increasing pressure from international partners to strengthen oversight and demonstrate stronger links between investors and the countries granting citizenship.
Dominica has described the move as part of wider regional reforms taking place across the Caribbean CBI industry.
For prospective applicants, the main takeaway is clear: Dominica's no-visit citizenship model is coming to an end.
Future citizens should expect an in-person visit requirement as part of the passport collection and renewal process once the new rules take effect.
