Nigeria has granted visa-free entry to citizens of Saint Kitts and Nevis. This is the first time the country has offered such access to a Caribbean nation.
The policy took effect on September 26, 2025, and applies to holders of ordinary, official, and diplomatic passports.
Until now, Nigeria’s visa-free arrangements outside West Africa only applied to Cameroon and Chad.
The announcement followed the AfriCaribbean Investment Summit (AACIS) 2025 in Abuja, where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Prime Minister Terrance Drew reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties.
Earlier this year, a direct charter flight between Abuja and Basseterre carried 120 Nigerian delegates to Saint Kitts and Nevis, signalling the beginning of closer Afri-Caribbean cooperation.
The visa-free agreement is expected to strengthen cooperation in trade, tourism, agriculture, and cultural exchange.
It also opens new opportunities for Saint Kitts and Nevis within the wider CARICOM bloc, while giving Nigerian businesses smoother access to Caribbean markets.
At the AfriCaribbean Business Expo in Basseterre, opportunities in agribusiness, technology, and creative industries were already showcased.
The next stage of cooperation will take shape at the second AfriCaribbean Investment Summit in March 2026, where stakeholders will focus on infrastructure, youth exchange, and long-term investment flows.
