Global Index Ranks Oman Passport 56th as China and Russia Join Visa-Free List
Oman’s passport has strengthened its global standing, rising four places to 56th as of mid-2025. The update follows recent visa exemption agreements with major countries, including China and Russia, boosting the number of visa-free destinations for Omani passport holders from 86 to 88.
The rankings are based on data provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and reflect the number of destinations a passport holder can access without a prior visa.
Two key developments have contributed to Oman’s rise in the rankings this year:
These agreements significantly enhance global mobility for Omani citizens and reflect growing diplomatic ties with key global economies.
As of July 2025, Omani citizens can travel to 88 countries visa-free, including:
Albania, Bahamas, Barbados, Belarus, Botswana, Brunei, Colombia, Dominica, Ecuador, Egypt, Georgia, Haiti, Hong Kong, Iran, Russia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Armenia, Malaysia, Mauritius, Micronesia, Pakistan, Philippines, Serbia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Cayman Islands, Suriname, Tajikistan, Syria, Türkiye, Turks and Caicos Islands, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Zambia, Macao, Thailand, Tunisia, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar.
Omani passport holders are also eligible for visa on arrival in countries including:
Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burundi, Cambodia, Cape Verde Islands, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Maldives, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Nepal, Nicaragua, Palau, Paraguay, Rwanda, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Tanzania, Tuvalu, and Yemen.
In addition, Omani nationals can apply for electronic visas (e-visas) to visit:
Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Cuba, Gabon, Guinea, India, Liberia, Mauritania, Moldova, Montserrat, Nigeria, São Tomé and Príncipe, South Africa, Taiwan, Togo, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and Vietnam.
The steady rise in Oman’s passport power reflects broader efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance travel mobility for citizens. With new visa waivers continuing to emerge, Oman’s global travel access is expected to expand even further in the coming years.
