Panama's QIPR and Independent Means Visas Are Poised for Record-Breaking | New Updates

As interest in Panama's residence by investment programs surges, Panama’s QIPR and Independent Means visas are poised for record-breaking success. The Qualified Investor Permanent Residency Program (QIPR) and the Independent Means visa are expected to reach unprecedented numbers in 2024, according to recent data from Panama's immigration authorities.

Panama's Investor Visa Programs Statistics

The QIPR has registered 105 applications in the first five months of 2024, indicating that it could reach 252 approvals by the end of the year, surpassing the 187 approvals in 2023. With the minimum investment threshold set to increase from $300,000 to $500,000 in October, a surge in applications is expected before the new price takes effect.

Meanwhile, the independent means visa, known as Jubilados and Pensionados, continues its strong performance from 2023, with 819 approvals in the first five months of 2024. This suggests that the category could exceed the previous year's record of 1,627 approvals.

The Friendly Nations Visa (FNV) has seen a stabilisation in demand following the price increase from $5,000 to $200,000 in late 2021 and 2022. The FNV recorded 1,312 approvals in the first five months of 2024, indicating a plateauing of interest after the price adjustment.

Panama's investor and independent means visas maintain exceptionally high approval rates in 2024, with an impressive average of 98%, surpassing the rates of 96% in 2022 and 2023. The Fixed Deposit Investor Visa achieved a 100% approval rate in 2024.

Investor immigrants account for 15% of all approved immigrants in Panama so far in 2024, matching the country's long-term average over the past seven years.
