St Kitts and Nevis Wins Best Passport Award in HSP Latin America

St Kitts and Nevis has been awarded Best New Passport at the High Security Printing (HSP) Latin America Conference in Rio de Janeiro, becoming the first OECS nation to receive the honor.

The winning passport, launched in November 2024, was praised for its polycarbonate data page, improved security features, and design that reflects national identity. The upgrade was developed as part of the government’s fourth-generation border management strategy.

“There is pride in this achievement,” said Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew, highlighting the country’s investment in securing citizen identity and border integrity.

New Features Aim to Strengthen Security and Modernize Travel

The updated ePassport includes:

  • A durable, tamper-resistant polycarbonate data page
  • Advanced anti-counterfeit technologies
  • Detailed visual elements showing local heritage and geography

The passport is part of a wider digital upgrade that also includes the launch of an ETA system to manage travel authorizations and streamline entry.

Officials say the changes will help support both tourism growth and national security priorities.
