St. Lucia’s Immigration Department has officially transitioned from issuing 5-year passports to 10-year validity passports for adults.
The new policy took effect on August 5, 2025, and all passports issued to individuals aged 18 and over from this date forward will carry the extended 10-year validity.
Passport validity for minors under 18 remains at 5 years, in line with international standards.
The passport fee structure remains unchanged.
The new policy is intended to reduce the frequency and cost of renewals for adult passport holders. It is expected to particularly benefit frequent travelers and international investors, including those who acquired citizenship through St. Lucia’s Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program.
According to an official statement from the Office of the Prime Minister:
“The introduction of the 10-year passport reflects the Government’s broader commitment to modernizing public services, improving citizen convenience, and delivering on its promises to the people of Saint Lucia.”
The update also aligns St. Lucia with global passport standards, as many countries already offer 10-year validity for adult passports. The document will continue to follow the standard CARICOM passport format.
