UAE Ranks Second Worldwide for Digital Nomads in 2025

The United Arab Emirates has climbed to second place globally in the 2025 Digital Nomad Visa Index, making it one of the most attractive countries for remote workers.

The report, published by VisaGuide and referenced by Immigrant Invest, ranks the UAE just behind Spain and ahead of destinations like Montenegro, the Bahamas, and Hungary.

The index evaluates countries on internet quality, tax friendliness, living costs, safety, healthcare access, and visa policies.

The UAE’s leap from fourth place in 2023 to second in 2025 reflects growing recognition of its remote work policies and digital infrastructure.

Remote Work Visas and Infrastructure Drive UAE’s Rise

Much of the UAE’s momentum comes from its early adoption of visa solutions for remote workers.

In 2021, the country introduced a one-year renewable visa for digital nomads, allowing remote employees of overseas companies to live legally in the UAE.

Local programs like Dubai’s Remote Work Visa and Abu Dhabi’s Virtual Working Programme have helped attract mobile professionals and entrepreneurs.

These initiatives are supported by modern coworking spaces, reliable high-speed internet, and access to essential services.

Analysts suggest the next steps should focus on expanding housing options for long-stay visitors and promoting more of the UAE’s natural and cultural offerings, strengthening its appeal across broader segments of digital talent.
