The United Kingdom is reportedly exploring a new investor visa aimed at wealthy foreign investors.
According to reports, the proposed route would require a minimum investment of £5 million into priority sectors of the British economy.
The program would reportedly operate on an invite-only basis and could offer a three-year path to permanent residency.
Documents circulated to advisers suggest the route would target entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals willing to invest in sectors identified as strategically important to the UK economy.
Applicants would be subject to enhanced due diligence and pre-selection measures.
Unlike the UK’s former Tier 1 Investor Visa, the proposed route would not accept real estate investment as a qualifying asset.
The focus appears to be on directing capital into businesses and high-growth sectors.
The reported proposal comes as the UK faces growing pressure to attract investment and globally mobile wealth.
The country closed its previous Tier 1 Investor Visa in 2022.
Since then, the UK has introduced broader immigration reforms while also facing growing discussion around investment, taxation, and international competitiveness.
At this stage, the proposal has not been formally announced as government policy.
