About Vanuatu’s Citizenship by Investment Program

Vanuatu’s Citizenship by Investment Program is the only one of its kind in the South Pacific and is known to be one of the quickest paths to second citizenship through investment in the world. The government of Vanuatu launched the Development Support Program to raise funds to support infrastructure and strengthen the economic development of the country.

The process was designed to be fast and efficient with only a few simple and easy steps to complete in the application process.

Vanuatu’s Development Support Program requires applicants to make a minimum monetary donation of $135,000 to the nation’s government and must pass the due diligence checks in exchange for the right to live and work in Vanuatu.

Pending approval from the government, successful applicants will receive full citizenship. Vanuatu’s Citizenship by Investment Program is based on the law and has been guaranteed by the government since 2017.

How to Get a Vanuatu Passport

Now that we’ve given a brief overview of Vanuatu’s Citizenship by Investment Program, we’ll go into more detail about how to get a Vanuatu passport.

Firstly, eligible candidates need to be 18 years or older, in good health, possess no criminal record and have confirmed investment sources to apply to the program. Candidates can apply as a single applicant or as a family of up to 4 members.

Before applying to any Citizenship by Investment Program, individuals must ensure that they are rendering the services of a government authorized agent and advisor like Savory and Partners. The internet is rife with fraudulent companies offering scams that promise citizenship within an implausible timeframe and at an impossibly low price. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.

As mentioned above, the Development Support Program was designed to be simple, transparent and fast. Once the candidate has found an approved Citizenship by Investment agent, they will pre-screen your passport copy for government pre-approval.

A response is usually received in 24 to 48 hours, after which a down payment of the professional fees is required to open the application.

The authorised agent will then assist and advise the candidate on the collection of the necessary documents required according to the government of Vanuatu’s checklist. Once all the documents are received, the agent will then submit the application to the citizenship office upon receipt of the payment.

Due diligence checks will then be carried out on the candidate by the Screening Committee in collaboration with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU). When it is verified that the candidate possesses no criminal record, the screening committee will present the application to the Citizenship Commission for approval.

The Citizenship Commission then presents the names of all successful applicants to the Prime Minister, who in turn advises the President on granting full Vanuatu citizenship to said applicants. Once this is completed, the applicant’s biometrics are registered and an Oath Allegiance Ceremony is performed before a passport and certificate of naturalization are issued in the individual’s name.

This process can take anywhere from as little as 45 days to 4 months at the most. Final payment of professional fees is then required to complete the application.

There are no physical residency requirements nor are there any mandatory visits to Vanuatu needed before or after the application process. The government of Vanuatu does not require applicants to pass any interviews, language tests or possess any previous work experience to qualify for citizenship. Dual citizenship(s) is permitted and the applicants home authorities will not be notified of the new citizenship.
